A very good friend of mine smashed up his jeep the other day and needs a few bucks to get back on the road.
Michael’s totally fine – not even a single scrape – but his jeep is now destined to be some art student’s final project.
Michael has a wife, children and a granddaughter. He’s not poor, but this car accident came right at the moment he can’t afford to have a car accident.
That’s where you come in…
I just went onto paypal and donated $150 - but that’s me (his hourly blog consulting rate is $150 and I’ve already received ten time the value, so I figure I owe him anyhow
).
If you only have $10, that’s ok too. But if you don’t know Michael, please don’t feel that you have to donate. Shame and guilt are not what this is about. This is about me making a small effort to help a friend who means a lot – and there’s a lesson in that.
Social media is another word for…
…Interdependence. Social media is ultimately about community – a community that supports each other. When you create value for others you’re making deposit into a very big karmic bank account. When you need help, you make withdrawals.
Michael’s making a withdrawal – just like the time you did. Remember?
