How To Increase Your Online Fundraising Results With TipJoy.Com – An Interview With Abby Kirigin

johnhaydonicon1 How To Increase Your Online Fundraising Results With TipJoy.Com An Interview With Abby KiriginWhat is tipjoy? And why should non-profits care?

abby How To Increase Your Online Fundraising Results With TipJoy.Com An Interview With Abby Kirigin“Tipjoy makes it easy for you to give and make money online. It makes micropayments simple and social. It’s great for non-profits because it brings their existing model online – the pledge first, pay later model – and improves upon it. Users can donate however little (or much) they can afford, which increases participation. Donations are social and givers tell their social networks about your campaign and spread the word for you.”

“The message is as important as the medium — using Twitter/Tipjoy, everyone who participates is both a donor and a broadcaster.”
- The Huffington Post

“Non-profits can choose from a variety of Tipjoy widgets for their campaign. One very successful non-profit uses Twitter to broadcast their campaigns. Users give using only their Twitter credentials, and their payment is tweeted automatically to their stream.”

To save kids lives. … If everyone who reads this – YOU – gives just $2, Charity: Water can build an entire water project for a school or hospital in Africa.

  • We just started using Tipjoy to help us with our Music for Life! campaign. My daughter who is a fifth grader plans to buy 150 MP3 players and donate them to the kids at the Children's Hospital in Washington DC. She was hospitalized there when she was 6 and knows how scary it can be. We have several events planned to raise funds for this project, but also hope that we can build some momentum through Twitter and Tipjoy. We even hold a "Twitterthon" each Friday night between 8-10PM where we send out songs and fun videos to our followers. If we entertain them we ask for a "tip" at the end. ( http://tinyurl.com/bohtcr ). So everyone Follow @KidsAreHeroes (parents) and @MMsMusicForLife (kids) and plan to have a great time this Friday night!
  • Very interesting. I think I need to find out more about TipJoy. Thanks for the interview!
  • @Trey - Yeah, the great thing about it is that it operates on sort of a broadcasted IOU system, which is cool.
  • I can't wait to share this information with our local agencies. I'd be interested to hear how other nonprofits are using it effectively (@Gabe - thanks for sharing your example!). Keep the great info coming!
