Hi all,

Welcome to my new blog. A draft. A work in progress. An experiment with social media.

First things first: Thank you. You’ve given me great feedback over the past year. You’ve helped me learn. So thanks! Really.

John

30 reasons for my blog’s new home

This new blog is for my readers

  1. Non-profits have been confused by the URL.
  2. CorporateDollar.Org started with the intention of helping non-profits get more corporate sponsors – hence the URL.
  3. I wasn’t too passionate about that topic.
  4. And neither were my readers.
  5. Based on a survey of my readers, I learned that they wanted to hear more about social media.
  6. I have tons of experience creating business results with social media.
  7. There was a round hole.
  8. I have a round peg.
  9. That’s sexy.
  10. Sexy people are confident in themselves.
  11. Confident people are clear in how they present themselves.
  12. This new blog is for my customers

  13. Many of my customers are small businesses and bloggers.
  14. Too many times to count, I’ve received DMs and emails saying, “I really like what you have to say and would love to hire you,but it looks like you only work with non-profits.”
  15. Many of my new clients are social entrepreneurs – meaning that they make a profit doing good.
  16. My core offering is building what I call “social web systems” – threading together a person, their passion, a strategy, tactics and social media tools, to create business success.
  17. By the way, success (IMHO) is about creating happiness – for you and others.
  18. I didn’t make this stuff up.
  19. My customers have taught me this, and have been my most important teachers.
  20. Thank you, dear customer!
  21. This new blog is for me.

  22. My biggest lesson in business is this: My business is me.
  23. I will change and grow but I will always be me.
  24. After conducting extensive research, I found out that no one else is trying to be me.
  25. “Me” is an über niche.
  26. Being me feels good.
  27. I want to have these good feelings as long as I live.
  28. What to expect?

  29. Useful content on social media strategy.
  30. More video tutorials similar to my recent Seesmic video tutorial.
  31. Case studies featuring non-profits who have used social media to solve business problems.
  32. Products to purchase – including advanced video tutorial courses, workbooks and recommended products.
  33. Tasty deliciousness from other blogs.

  • Sweet blog. I never know what I am going to come across next. I think you should do more posting as you have some pretty intelligent stuff to say.

    I'll be watching you . :)
  • Hey John!

So excited . . . you did it and love the image you chose for your first post.

Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing more!
  • Johnny!

You are my social media hero.

    Congrats and Kudos!
  • Congrats on the new home! Looks great.

Can't reed through the icons. If that's your idea of marketing, count me out.
  • Linda - Yes, that is my idea of marketing... ;-p
  • It's healthy to change, so allow me to offer another change: Get rid of the frame. I grasp what you're trying to do with social icons as fixed and everything else fluid--but if I didn't like your blogging, I wouldn't be back. Why? Who are you? I can't see your name; your layout is now contrary to 99% of other blogs. Ugh.
  • Ari - Icons gone. Thanks!
  • Thanks for inviting me over to the new pad, John. I'm loving it and can't wait to see how it's furnished! :) Knowing you, it will soon be full of laughs... and oh yeah, helpful stuff too.

Thanks for making me laugh AND listening to me cry! (that's just on very rare occasions though)
  • Ria - anytime. You listen to my blabbing enough.
  • Very nice, John! I love how fresh and clean the new blog looks!! ( Psst, I need to email you!!)

Looks awesome--site belongs on Thesis gallery page. I would change the blue box surrounding the main content to just the verticals, though.

    Awesome re-launch.
  • Looks great, John. The fish is a great analogy of what you've done. You're out of the fish bowl and moving to bigger and better digs!
  • love the new space. i think a house warming gift is in order!!! congrats and wishes for much happiness connecting with, inspiring and of course entertaining others in your new "home". ;p
  • Suzanne - Send money and Nutella.
  • Nancy Iannone
Awesome new website John. I really like the clean bright layout containing. Of course the information you provide is still great. I frequently recommend your site when nonprofits ask me about getting in to social media!
  • Thanks, Nancy. Yeah, Thesis rocks!
