Most of the time, it’s hard work and heart that creates success with social media – and not technical knowledge. A couple of weeks ago I discussed how Gabe used Twitter to win Richard Branson’s Pitch.Tv challenge by working hard and being passionate.
Now that the pitch is live on all Virgin Atlantic flights [see video at bottom of post], I wanted to ask MaryMargaret (Gabe’s daughter and founder of KidsAreHeroes) how she felt:
Three questions for MaryMargaret (and her dad)
John: So MaryMargaret, you must be very excited that Kids Are Heroes is now airing on Virgin Atlantic planes during June!
MM: Very extremely excited. I think the other kids probably are very happy that they are on the Virgin Atlantic planes.
John: Kids are fascinated with superheroes – Superman, Spiderman, Wordgirl. But it seems that the kids on your site are superheroes – for real! What super power do these kids have in common?
MM: These kids all have a superpower of helping animals and people.
Dad: I second that and add that they all have a secret power called humility. Not one of them is trying to attract attention to them self – they are all trying to help the causes they believe in. They are all excited that the extra exposure can only bring more awareness to their charities.
John: What’s next for Kids Are Heroes? What your biggest dream?
MM: I hope that Kids Are Heroes gets a lot more heroes from this. My dream is to open a Kids Are Heroes store, and each month the proceeds would go to a different charity.
Dad: I honestly hope someone with deep pockets can help us realize our dream of making Kids Are Heroes become a global organization that not only recognizes and inspires, but also mentors kids, helps kids and families start non-profits, becomes more integrated with schools, etc. These are just a few of our visions. My dream is that someday very soon this becomes my life’s work.
